Vacation 2005

The East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia offers one of the richest and most varied diving environments in the world. The coral reefs around Sibu-Tinggi, have been gazetted a National Marine Park, and are among the most colourful reefs in South East Asia, teeming with marine life. Hard and soft corals, cave corals, sponges and fans co-exist in colourful profusion. Myriad reef fish and patrolling predators inhabit these rich reefs, which offer many beautiful, safe dive sites. This is a paradise for underwater photographers.

Cabanas Dive Centre promotes safe and enjoyable diving in the South China Sea, around the Sibu-Tinggi group of Islands. The PADI Dive Centre offers dive excursions and training for any level of diving, starting from Discover Scuba Diving through to Divemaster. Our resident Dive Instructor (PADI) has experienced diving at various loactions throughout the world.

So if you are tempted to join a diving course, come and train under the PADI system. Of course you need to demonstrate that youčre comfortable in water, have some basic swimming skills and be of reasonable health. And if you are already a certified diver, join us for a dive trip, and see first hand the beauty of our reefs.

The dive season follows the local monsoon, starting in March each year, when the North East Monsoon ends. Early in the season visibility ranges from 5 to 8 meters, but from April this increases to over 10 meters. Visibility is sometimes affected by local squalls and rainfall runoff.
